Gilbert's Cove Lighthouse with Fin Whale
CAD$650

Painting size:  12'' x 12" oil painting.  Can be framed in black ash with white liner (extra cost for framing) Total with frame $650.00

Painting Inspiration:  The length and shape of a fin whale is quite intriquing.  The Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia is known for all the whales who come into feed here.  Gilbert's Cove comes out to a point into the bay.  Perhaps visitors would have the chance in catching a fin whale coming up to breathe.

Built in 1904, the Gilbert’s Cove Lighthouse is affectionately known as the “lighthouse on the hill.” For generations it has welcomed fishermen and travelers along St. Mary’s Bay, its red roof a familiar mark of safety and community pride.

Offshore, the fin whale, the second-largest animal on Earth, reaching up to 85 feet in length, glides through these same waters. Despite its immense size, the fin whale moves with speed and elegance, a quiet giant of the deep.

Together, the lighthouse and the whale tell a story of guardianship and grace. One stands fixed against the sky; the other journeys through endless seas. Both remind us of the heritage and wonder that define Nova Scotia’s coast.  Treasures that endure only if we choose to protect them.
